Bin output from VS2010 projects differs from VS2008 projects

I noticed when updating the VS2008 projects for signing, that the binary ouput paths for the VS2010 projects differs from the VS2008 projects.

Currently for the VS2010 projects:

  • Bxf.Wpf goes to "..\Bin\DotNet"
  • Bxf.Silverlight goes to "..\Bin\Silverlight"

For the VS2008 projects it goes do the default bin folder underneath each project:

  • Bxf.Wpf goes to "Bxf.Wpf\Bin"
  • Bxf.Silverlight goes to "Bxf.Silverlight\Bin"

I only raise the this because the VS2010 project is intentionally in a non-default location, and I'm just questining if I should update the VS2008 project to a similar or related location.

It could also be that the VS2010 is chosen as the "master" project to create binary outputs for the Bxf codeplex project which mutes my question altogether.

The VS10 projects intentionally go to a non-default location, because that makes it easier to do a binary release (just zip that folder and it is done).

I hadn't gotten around to doing a VS08 binary release (do we want to do that?), so I didn't change the target location.  It is probably a good idea to make that change though, for consistency.

I too am not sure we really want to do that, but for consistency it may be worth it.
What about the following folder structure:

  • VS2010 --> /Bin/
  • VS2008 --> /Bin.2008/

Alternatively we leave it as is since the above could confuse matters?
